Obama leads by 6.83 in Ohio

June 18, 2008

Obama’s bounce continues

My latest projections for Ohio are:

Barack Obama 48.33
John McCain 41.5

McCain trails Obama in Ohio. Although his campaign should not be at panic stations yet they should be getting close. Although doing something stupid such as putting a hard core Republican on the ticket or flip flopping on Iraq would be utterly stupid, maybe it would be prudent to find a new campaign manager, or try to go on the offensive against Obama.

  1. Huckabee warns that “Demonizing” Obama would be disasterous for the GOP: http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/06/18/huckabee-demonizing-obama-is-a-%e2%80%98fatal-mistake%e2%80%99/

I’d say that he’s right. If the party goes too far and gets painted as racist, the Independents will abandon them in droves.

  2. Yes, Mr. Huckabee is right in this regards. Mr. McCain must attack Mr. Obama on the issues, not his race. Mrs. Clinton went too far in her attacks and thus only won by 10 points. About 97% of Ohioans won’t be happy if this campaign turns into race issue. I do not know what the breakdown is in every state, but here in Ohio, I suspect that Mr. Obama is more liked among Independents than he is among party people.
